Frequently Asked Questions

Can I purchase a voucher?

Unfortunately we will not be offering vouchers at Aryeh. This is because we are only open for summer and do not want to risk people not using the vouchers before we close in April 2024.

is scenic drive open?

No. Scenic Drive is still closed from the floods and cyclone. This means if you are driving from Titirangi to Piha, you can either go via Glen Eden, or from Scenic Drive you will need to turn onto Shaw Rd. This will take you to Oratia where you can turn left onto Westcoast Rd and follow the road to Piha.

Can i brng my dog?

Aryeh is not a place for dogs, we have made this conscious choice as many of the other great local dining establishments in Piha receive great trade due to the fact that they allow dogs, we are here to pursue passion and cook great food, to add something unique to Piha but we do not wish to take our neighbours bread. So no dogs at Aryeh.

what number can i call?

Our number is 027 411 7046, generally we can take calls between 9:30 am - 11:30am and after noon between 4-6pm, outside of that the place gets pretty busy & loud, we strive to check the phones and answer calls however during service this can become difficult.

We are also closed Tuesdays and no one is checking the phone that day.

Do you have a kids menu ?

We do not have a kids menu nor do we have any highchairs or change tables. Children are welcome to order off of our Sundeck menu which offers casual kiwi feeds like ‘fish n chips’ and ‘chicken wings’.

Well behaved children are welcomed at Aryeh, however if your bundle/s of joy are not so joyous sitting at a restaurant for hours, then Aryeh is not the place for them.

Our sundeck is a great place for the young ones, its nature and quick and casual food lends it self well to the youngins.

Piha has a number of other family friendly establishments you can visit for dinner such as the RSA, The Bowling Club & The Surf Club.

can we dine without a booking?

Yes. Our uncovered Sundeck is available for walk-in guests on a first in first serve basis. We serve our casual Sundeck menu, coffee and drinks in this space.

If we have tables available on our covered balcony area or inside the restaurant, and we have the capacity to serve you, then we will also accept walk-ins who are wanting to dine on our à la carte menu, the 3 course set menu or the 5 course set menu, however for same day bookings, your best to call us in advance on 027 411 7046.

Do you accept reservations?

We accept and encourage reservations if you are wanting to dine on our à la carte, 3 course or 5 course menus. These menus are available inside and on our covered balcony area.

You can book online here or for same day bookings, call 027 411 7046.

We do not accept reservations for those wanting to dine on our casual Sundeck menu. The Sundeck is available for walk-in guests weather and space permitting.

do we all need to book the same menu?

Yes. To ensure everyone is eating at the same time and you have the most seamless dining experience, it is best for everyone in your group to all enjoy the same menu (either à la carte, 3 course set menu or 5 course set menu).

The 3 course and 5 course menus are great if you are feeling like relaxing and not having to make decisions. Simply let us know your dietary requirements and allow us to look after you.

Can you cater to allergies, Strong dislikes, fussy eaters & dietary requirements?

Yes. We can cater to most dietary needs so long as we have 24 hours notice to prepare. In some cases, an additional charge may be incurred depending of the level of work involved in catering to your dietary needs.

Please communicate with us in advance! We would much rather create a dish specifically for you, rather than simply remove what you can’t have on the night and serve you a dish which is not balanced.

why so many questions when booking a table?

When making a booking, we like to know:

  • The date you would like to dine

  • How many people will be dining

  • Your preferred time

  • Your preferred menu

  • Any allergies, strong dislikes or dietary requirements you would like catered for.

This information helps us to prepare accordingly and removes a number of variables and last minute surprises which typically occur when we are unaware of your intentions.

This is important for 2 reasons. Firstly, it helps you and your dining party have a seamless evening with us.

Secondly, we support neurodiversity in the work place and have a number of people on our team who process information atypically. The information collected during the booking process decreases uncertainty and stress which is important in an environment which can otherwise be full of stimuli.

why do you need Credit card details to confirm my booking?

Our reservations system uses Stripe to securely store your credit card details. As per our booking terms and conditions, in the event that you don’t show up for your booking, or you cancel  within 24 hours of your booking, a fee of $50 per person may be applied.

The cancellation fee helps to ensure that the people who are making bookings are actually intending to dine with us and reduces the risk of ‘no shows’ which can be quite detrimental to hospitality businesses.
